There is always something going on at the Sutnar Faculty. Apart from the regular curriculum, which includes workshops and meetings with professional visual artists and designers, the students can also attend a wide range of other specialized lectures, exhibitions, workshops and symposia which bring Czech and international artists, theoreticians and experienced professionals to the faculty throughout the whole year. These unique encounters provide the students with precious insights into artistic practice, offer an open space for discussions and the exchange of experience and broaden their horizons, allowing them to explore also other areas outside their respective fields of study.
Examples of such opportunities include the International Photography Symposium Pilsen, the regular participation of the faculty in Figurama, an international project focused on figural designs, the long-term cooperation with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the Faculty of Health Care Studies of the University of West Bohemia in the DesIng2 project, as well as the recently established Jiří Trnka International Symposium focused on illustration and animation.
Every year in July, the students can join the ArtCamp, a summer art school offering courses and workshops held by significant personalities from the Czech Republic and abroad. Nonetheless, the faculty receives visits from international artists and experts throughout the whole year. The recent guests included the Argentinian visual artist Gérard Lo Monaco, the Italian car designer Maurizio Corbi and the US graphic designer Steven Heller. The students can meet famous personalities from the field also in connection with the Ladislav Sutnar Prize, when its laureates come to Pilsen to accept the award.
