Sofia Artemeva, third year student of the Furniture and Interior Design Studio designed a germicide UV lamp for disinfecting small objects. The lamp emits UV light in the UV-C spectrum which destroys microorganisms and causes disruption of cellular structures. It is usually used in healthcare and food industry, but during the Coronavirus pandemic, it is used also for disinfecting public transport, office workplaces etc. The UV Lamp design attracted attention at Designblok in Prague where it was presented in the open-air exhibition Design Helps. This exhibition was a new addition to the programme of this prestigious event and introduced designs aiming to provide help in healthcare, social care and environmental protection.
