Cooperation

Cooperation

The Faculty has long supported the development of cultural and creative industries, which includes cooperation with companies, the industrial domain, non-profit organizations and public administration organizations, for which the Faculty provides innovative design solutions and artistic installations. All departments of the Faculty are involved in cooperation with the sphere of practical application to varying degrees. There are 21 specialisations presented at the Faculty, which have high-quality technical equipment and a wide range of skills and means of expression. Creative activity thus becomes an excellent tool for the promotion of science, application, entrepreneurship, innovation or user testing.

On the basis of the implemented orders, the Faculty defines contracting authorities from five typical areas, in which the end user is always the professional or general public.

Industrial enterprises and companies

The implementation of designs is oriented towards mass-produced products, prototypes of components, machines and tools for industrial enterprises, and the design and installation of public interiors. Furthermore, orders are processed for the design of gift items and complex solutions for the visual identity of companies and promotional materials. The academic staff includes a number of authors whose designs are mass-produced and distributed worldwide.

Cultural heritage and conservation

The Faculty cooperates closely with galleries, museums and entities managing properties or other monuments under state protection. In particular, the Department of Audiovisual Art is the main provider of contracts and the author of projects in the field of cultural heritage protection and is involved in a number of digitisation projects in heritage care. Outputs include a wide range of digital and physical forms of presentation, such as mappings, projections, VR/AR, digital trails, mobile apps, sound and light design, interactive works and installations. Physical outputs also include the scenography of spaces or, for example, exhibition systems for museums and galleries. Successful film production plays an equally important role. FDA has installed a number of audiovisual works in cooperation with conservation authorities.

Cities, local governments and landscape

In addition to their own original work, design majors and students specialising in fine art also engage in public space. Implementations include building designs, sculptures and artworks in public space and urban furniture designs. In graphic design, this involves the complex development of visual identities for cities and municipalities, means of transport or wayfinding systems in cities or for specific public buildings. From the perspective of landscape sustainability, we can mention the implementation of environmentally friendly green buildings from the work of Prof. Ing. arch. Zdeněk Fránek, and other outputs of multidisciplinary projects based on direct interaction with nature and alternative materials, such as land art projects or the Planeta Kampus interdisciplinary project.

Medical and technical sciences

The promotion of health and quality of life, which is one of the sustainable development goals (SDG3), is a source of collaboration and a strongly represented theme, especially in the Industrial and Product Design studios, which handle commissions and projects for the healthcare area, cooperating with hospitals and medical teams. The main task is mainly designing prototypes for medical purposes - medical devices or lifesaving elements, where different materials and user interactions are tested in addition to shape design. Furthermore, the Faculty implements models or prototypes created within research projects, which are often closely related to digital technologies.

Publishing entities

Cooperation with publishing houses represents the largest share of concluded licences. Faculty concluded a total of 27 in the period under review. The Faculty successfully capitalises on the results of artistic creative activity by publishing illustrated books and comic books through prestigious publishing houses, which are often produced in several languages.
