"Chiméra" je jedinečná kolektivní výstava tchajwanských nových médií a digitálního umění kurátorů Jana Van Woensela a Yu-Chuan Tsenga. Na vernisáži, která se konala v pátek 4. října jsme měli příležitost setkat se s významnými hosty jako je Andy W. M. Tseng (ředitel Tchajpejské Ekonomické a Kulturní Kanceláře), Hung-chi Cheng, pan velvyslanec Joey Chung-I Wang (TEKK). Přítomen byl také proděkan pro tvůrčí činnost naší fakulty Arnošt Marks. Výstava je uspořádána ve dvou prostorech DOX+ v Praze.
"Chimera" is a group exhibition of Taiwanese new and digital media art put together by Yu-Chuan Tseng, artist, curator and Associate Professor at Shih Hsin University based in Taipei; and Jan Van Woensel, curator at Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art at University of West Bohemia based in Pilsen. The exhibition is organized in two off-spaces of DOX+ Center for Contemporary Art in Prague. The grand opening took place on Friday, October 4th, in the unique roof space at Dox in the presence Mr. Joey Chung-I Wang and Mr. Andy W. M. Tseng from Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Prague, Mr. Hung-chi Cheng, vice-dean Mr. Arnošt Marks, and Curator Jan Van Woensel.
The group exhibition "The World of Tomorrow" brings together original artwork of the influential Czech designer and artist Ladislav Sutnar(1897–1976) with the work of exceptional talents from SUTNARKA: Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art at the University of West Bohemia. The Ladislav Sutnar Gallery and Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art cordially invite you to the Exhibition opening on wednesday, September 25th, 2019, from 6 to 8 pm.
The Hollar Foundation, the Ladislav Sutnar Gallery, the Ladislav Faculty of Design and Art and the SUTNAR Foundation are the organizers of a very unique exhibition entitled "Graphics of the Year" which is on display at the Ladislav Sutnar Gallery until 27th of April.
To live and experience the Middle Ages with a touch of exaggeration is how we would summarize the essence of cooperation between our students from the Studio Animation and Interactive Art and the students of Media Studies in Germany (OTH Amberg). The project is focused on the development of film and animation making as well as working in international teams. This project was created in a very romantic location in the History Park Bärnau-Tachov.
Two graduates of the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art, Soňa Juríková and Martin Kadlec, were selected among the many designers of the best graduation projects of the Visegrad Group - Graduation Project 2018. Until the 31st of March, the Polish castle of Cieszyn will host an exhibition of the best graduation works from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary. The works will also be presented at the Vienna Design Week 2019 and at the European Design Festival at the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw.
At the beginning of April, the Swiss city of Lucerne held the annual International Comic Festival in Fumetto which is, since its inauguration, accompanied by a traditional comic competition.
On Wednesday, the 6th of March, Yuichi Ito, a Japanese director, founder and director of an animation studio I.TOON Ltd. and winner of many awards, including the Golden Slipper awarded in Zlin and an honorary medal recipient for outstanding contribution to the field of animation awarded at the International Animation Festival for Children - Biennial of Animation in Bratislava, visited our Faculty.
On the 13th of March, the Czech Centre in Munich hosted a selective exhibition of works created by students of the Studio Metal and Jewellery Design which was held as part of the international show called "Schmuck 2019".
To commemorate the 120th birth anniversary of Ladislav Sutnar, the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art launched a project aimed at the popularization of the artworks created by this renowned artist. The aim of the project was to create a virtual map of places that are connected with the personality of Ladislav Sutnar which can also be explored by the public.

Elaine Ford Sutnar, the wife of Radoslav L. Sutnar, passed away after a long and severe illness on February 21, 2019.
An exhibition introducing the artworks created by Renata Fučíková, Václav Šlajch and their students was launched on Thursday, February 21, 2019, in the prestigious Croatian art gallery Klovičevi dvori. The exhibition will be on display until the end of March.
The two-round competition drew the attention of eight students of the Master's degree which they study at the Studio of Design headed by Zdeněk Veverka. The unique challenge was prepared by the organization Management and Maintenance of Roads in the Region of Pilsen.
The ceremonial announcement of the 25th national exhibition GRAPHIC ART OF THR YEAR 2018 and the 24th Vl. Boudník Prize took place on February 3 at the Municipal House in Prague. Until February 27, an extensive exhibition will be displayed in the beautiful spaces of this building. During the month of April, the exhibition will be displayed in the Ladislav Sutnar Gallery and in the Gallery Incubator which is located in the building of the Faculty.
The twelfth edition of the Muriel Award for the year 2018 (and autumn 2017) was awarded under the auspices of the Czech Comic Academy. The award ceremony was held on Thursday, January 24, 2019, at the Prague Bio Oko Cinema under the baton of two hosts: Esther Geislerová and Johana Švarcová. The Ladislav Sutnar Faculty had several irons in the fire.
The above-mentioned questions are part of a project entitled "CzechImage" initiated by the Czech Centres as part of the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Czechoslovakian Republic. Nearly sixty artworks created by artists from ten countries can be seen until February 28, 2019, at the Gallery of Czech Centres located in Rytířská Street in Prague. Part of the exhibition is dedicated to reminiscence of the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art.
Until February 2, the Ladislav Sutnar Gallery displays a unique exhibition named EXTYPO, which offers an unusual view on the free creative work of Rostislav Vaňek, who belongs to the prominent personalities of Czech graphic design.
The memorandum of cooperation was signed by the Dean of the Faculty Josef Mištera and the Bishop Tomáš Holub. The ceremony took place on Tuesday, December 11 in the Church of St. John of Nepomuk at Chodské Square in Pilsen. Part of the ceremony was a scenic projection created by the Studio Multilab, headed by Jan Morávek and Lukáš Kellner.
On Wednesday, November 7, the Dean of the Faculty Josef Mištera, along with selected students and teachers, visited the Lobkowicz Palace and introduced two projects which were created at the Studio of Media and Didactic Illustration
For the first time in history, the 28th edition of the Czech National Award for Student Design will be announced in Pilsen. The theme of this edition is visual communication. The award ceremony will be held on November 16 at 5 pm in the creative space DEPO2015. Live recording of the ceremony will be broadcast in the café of DEPO2015. Works of nominated students will be displayed at the exhibition New G(o)od which will be held at DEPO2015 through November 25.
The award ceremony was held on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, from 2 pm in the ceremonial hall of the Pilsen City Hall. Artists and representatives of artistic institutions took over the Ladislav Sutnar Prize from the hands of the Dean of the Faculty in the presence of the management of the university and representatives of the city of Pilsen and the Pilsen Region.
Three studios of the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art were presented at the biggest exhibition of design and fashion in Central Europe which took place from October 25-29 at the Openstudio of the Industrial Palace in Prague.
The fourth edition of the International Comics Festival KOMA was focused on the theme "Extinction – Endangered Species". The term endangered relates to phenomena and objects on the edge of disappearance, society, or interest. Time running out before this potential extinction draws our attention to unrepeatable unique things in danger of vanishing. KOMA focuses on the frontiers of interest as well as segregated and disappearing societies, habits, and tendencies.
