For the first time in history, the Hollar Foundation moves the exhibition Graphic Art of the year 2017 and The Vl. Boudník award from the traditional space of the Clam-Gallas Palace in Prague to the Faculty of Design and Art in Pilsen. The exhibition will be on display from May 18.
This year, for the first time, the Animation and Interactive Art Studio will be presented at the famous international animation film festival which takes place in the French city of Annecy. The Czech Republic will be represented by the graduate Matouš Valchář, who is the author of the movie "After".
The Vice-deans of the Faculty of Design and Art Vojtěch Aubrecht and Tomáš Chochole visited Taiwan the last week of March.
Talente is an annual international competition for new talents in the field of applied arts which was founded in 1980. The selected participant can only exhibit once and must be under the age of 35.
Adam Frk, a student of the first year of the Master's degree programme Fashion Design, was awarded the HDS/L Junior Award 2018. This competition is organized by the Bundesverband der Schuh- und Lederwarenindustrie.
The exhibition entitled "120 Years Sutnar" was inaugurated on March 8. The visitors could admire the exhibits, which are placed in front of the Education and Research Library of Pilsen Region until March 29.
The comic strip "Friendly Darkness" created by a student of the Illustration Studio, Jana Vobořilová was chosen out of almost a thousand works to the best 45 comics strips in the international competition Fumetto. This Swiss festival will not only be attended by Jana Vobořilová, but also by the representatives of the Studio Comics and Illustration for Children. The Czech version of her comic strip won the second place in the competition CS.KOMIKS.17.
"At this moment we are awaiting the live broadcast of a very special concert. Its authors believe that this project is absolutely unique. It's not very common that a symphony orchestra prepares a special dramaturgy to commemorate the anniversary of political events that are actually not very pleasant and complete the musical part with interpretations and discussions. But this is what awaits us today ", these are the words of the presenter Pavel Ryjáček, who hosted the event which took place on 27 February at Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art.
On the occasion of the opening of the Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, the Czech Centre Seoul, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Seoul and the Studio of Media and Didactic Illustration presented the Czech Republic in a tent in the Gwanghwamun Olympic Zone placed on the square, just in front of the main royal palace Gyeongbokgung, which is located in the historical centre of the Korean Capital City of Seoul.
At the end of last year, there was a competition for young designers with a playful assignment. The task for students and designers was to design the cover of an Office Depot notebook for the year 2018. The topic was entitled "Trees for Life" and the Jury selected winners from nearly four hundred artworks. Kristýna Gregorová, the student of Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art, won the second place.
On Saturday,17 of February, the Dramatic Studio in Ústi nad Labem hosted the premiere of the theatrical adaptation of the famous novel by Ray Bradbury "Fahrenheit 451".
The main prize for the winner of the competition CS.KOMIKS.17 was the trip to Europe's biggest comics festival in Angoulême. The festival was also attended by the head of the department, the associate professor Barbara Šalamounová, together with the assistant Marie Kohoutová. Barbara Šalamounová shared her personal opinions on this event in a report.
