Sutnarka organised the first Czech-Israeli interfaculty online conference

Monday, 25 January 2021 12:13

The January international online conference is based on the cooperation of the Faculty of Design of the Israeli Holon Institute of Technology and the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, Czech Republic in the field of motion graphics and virtual/augmented reality. On the occasion of last year's 30th anniversary of the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and based on a common progressive interest in new media, both faculties decided to highlight and revive key personalities and historical events that link Czech and Israeli culture in the first phase of cooperation. The first output of this collaboration is the Masaryk Square AR/VR Exhibition / Relationship in Motion in the Ladislav Sutnar Gallery in Pilsen.

„The stories connecting the history of both countries became the basis of cooperation for both faculties, clearly heading for the future," mentioned the Vice-Dean for Creative Activities of the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, Arnošt Marks.

The exhibition in the Pilsen Ladislav Sutnar Gallery presents the outputs of the course "Design and Development for the Virtual Reality Environment". The project successfully connects Czech and Israeli students, benefiting from the expertise of both faculties and from the technical equipment of laboratories and studios. This creates an opportunity to create a shared space for projects that combine technology and science with design. Masaryk Square in Tel Aviv became the catalyst and meeting point for new visual and virtual narratives. Students of the Faculty of Design of the Israeli Holon Institute of Technology prepared an active virtual environment, and under the leadership of Eitan Bartal and Alon Rubin, they worked on seven extraordinary projects - Lola Beer Ebner, Alfred Neumann, The Golem of Prague, Miloš Forman, Terezín, Jaroslav Jakubovicz, Franz Kafka.

The project was financially supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel, Embassy of the State of Israel in the Czech Republic, the City of Pilsen, Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen and the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen.
